Advanced fertilizers

ICL Innovation Incubator seeks advanced fertilizers for various application methods to supplement ICL's plant nutrition solutions.

Background

Fertilization technologies keep improving. Nano technology, foliar application, micro-encapsulation and advanced production techniques are just a few examples. Not every advancement proves suitable, or even more effective in the Agro market, and nano technology is one such technology that is still debated for its benefit vs. risks, but some certainly are. These new developments offer new pathways to answer the plant's nutrition needs, possibly more effective ones. Foliar fertilization may become a better option as a result, or fertigation used in wider applications. These are the kind of issues that interest us in our search for advanced fertilizers. In the face of resource scarcity and environmental considerations, developing new technologies is a clear need and a direction we at ICL Innovation set ourselves towards. 

Our criteria:

1. Cost- the agro industry is a highly price sensitive market and technologies should be economical in Agro terms
2. Loading- The fertilizers should comprise at least 85% of the final product (w/w)
3. Performance in real life conditions- release profile, cross effects etc.
4. Feasibility of application using mostly existing machinery and following established practices
5. Regulatory considerations

As a technology incubator, ICL Innovation is looking only for innovative technologies that may be further developed and commercialized through a business unit in ICL.
